Orbita and Kalmar Sign Global Co-operation Agreement

This Global Agreement includes an Exclusive Agency agreement that appoints Kalmar as sole provider of Orbita systems for Gate and Crane Automation worldwide.

Port Automation and Engineering specialist Orbita Ports&Terminals and leading cargo handling solutions provider Kalmar, part of Cargotec, have signed a global agreement for co-operation between the two companies that includes an exclusive Agency agreement which ensures Kalmar the rights to represent and market Orbita automation systems as part of Kalmar’s automation portfolio.

The agreement includes an agency contract that gives Kalmar worldwide exclusive representation of Orbita’s automation solutions such as GateSuite and CraneSuite, including Gate OCR and Crane OCR solutions, Kiosk systems, Truck Positioning for STS cranes and Automatic Damage Detection in Gates.

Both Companies see this co-operation agreement as a great opportunity to complement their respective offering. Orbita, a young emerging company which is driven by engineering and technology, join forces with two purposes:  the joint development of new automation systems and the improvement of the global reach in terms of port automation offering.

“This is great news for Orbita and we are very excited about partnering with Kalmar, since this agreement will definitely help us increase our presence in the Port Automation market.  The fact that Kalmar chooses us as their partner reinforces our engineering approach to terminal automation and our position as a key player in this market. We are very proud to collaborate with a company like Kalmar, which is obtaining great results in introducing automation systems in machinery and terminal processes. We are also looking forward to joining forces with Kalmar in the development of new solutions that help our customers improve their global performance.” has said Francisco Grau Cavanillas, Managing Director of Orbita Ports&Terminals.

Tommi Pettersson, Vice President, Automation in Kalmar comments: “Kalmar wants to utilize expertise of selected partners in the ecosystem in technology areas which complement our own offering. Orbita’s portfolio is a good addition to our in-house automation portfolio. Their hardware and software can be seamlessly integrated into our solutions providing our customers added value through pre-integrated systems.”

During 2015, Orbita has obtained the Navis Ready Validation label for its Gate Operating System and will continue to work towards a complete integration with other Kalmar and Navis automation platforms.
